I also used to use Kazaa-Lite, however the K-Lite project is just about dead, becuase Sharman believes that users HAVE to see adverts and install crappy spyware.(oops, didn't I mean AdWare? - No! ) any rate, the old K-Lite crew recommended E-Mule, at the time I felt Shareza was just as good if not better, so I stuck with it. My friend highly recommended Shareaza, so I downloaded it and tried it out, I shortly after discovered share reactor, and thought that it was great becuase Shareaza can utlize this, however, I found shareaza to be a resource hog (on the whole), and it never really sped up, this was after leaving it running for three days solid. Maybe I'll try it again in another year or so - for the moment it's eMule for me though. But my overall impression of a recent Shareaza release was too bad to even keep it - it just didn't feel like a solid piece of software. Maybe I'm not entirely fair since being used to the eMule GUI too much. * crashes: especially when running out of diskspace - those dev's probably never thought about file compression * CPU usage: usually around 90-100% - that's about 10x what eMule needs on my machine (PIII 450, Win2k) * aggressive installer: floods your registry and doesn't give shit about other ed2k clients * interface: eye-candy all over the place, yet it's rather counter-intuitive in places ![]() ![]() * commenting on incomplete files (pretty nice if you don't want to re-download the same shit over and over again) * built-in preview of incomplete files (if it didn't crash so much. * preview on global searches (making it harder for fake-releasers to do their business) So why would someone use the inferior tool with respect to DL speeds? Here is a list of pros and cons about Shareaza: Those are the steps for forwarding ports in your router for Shareaza.I've tried Shareaza recently and although the download speeds were by far higher I went back to eMule.
